Born in kolkata in 1953. In 1977, graduated from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. Awarded in 2000 senior fellowship in the field of visual art - ministry of human (res. & dev.), 1988 state government award (Kolkata), 1986 The LKA national award - (painting), a member of the society of contemporary artist since 1984, received a scholarship from Government College of Art and Craft in 1973-77. He has held several solo shows across the country: 2008 Akar Prakar, Kolkata, 2006 Anant Art, New Delhi, 2004 Art World, Chennai, 2003 Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Mumbai, 2002 Art Today, New Delhi, 1999 Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata. He has participated in many group shows in India as well as several international shows, such as New York, Toronto, Singapore, London and Bangladesh. Has participated in video art shows at the international short film festival at Max Mueller Bhavan, the short film festival by CSFF at Nandan, the indo-american film screening at Freer Art Gallery, Washington, an international conference in Tel Aviv and the Indo British digital film festival organised by British Council. His works are in several important collections in India and overseas.
