Modern Masters

December, Ahmedabad

This one-of-a-kind show has many works belonging to earlier phases of the artists’ creative careers, and therefore are rare and unique pieces which could grace any modern art museum walls.

These pieces belonged to very well-known collectors from all over India and were handpicked by them from shows and artist studios over the years. The drawings by Sunil Das for example are from 1962, he did them on his visit to Spain. So are Jamini Roy’s intimate little drawings, and some never before seen drawings by Somenath Hore. There are many other works by masters like Akbar Padamsee, Bikash Bhattacharjee, S H Raza, Sanat Kar, Jogen Chowdhury, Satish Gujral, and Ganesh Haloi, etc. and some very rare work by the sculptors, Sarbari Roychowdhury, Pradosh Dasgupta, Himmat Shah, and Meera Mukherjee.

The best part of this show is that viewers would get to see rare drawings, sculptures and paintings by the modern masters, many of whom are no more, simultaneously under one roof. This makes the exhibition exclusive and offers a delightful and rare opportunity to any aspiring and serious collector of priceless art.
